As an introduction into the graphic design program at the University of Central Florida, we had to create a logo from an animal, and draw it in 4 phases that would result in a symbol of the original drawing. I wanted to challenge myself with this assignment, so I chose an animal that I felt my peers wouldn't have thought to choose: a pangolin. The pangolin is an endangered mammal that is often hunted for its scales. The complexity of this animal and trying to simplify it while keeping the essence of the pangolin was a welcome challenge.
After creating the final logo symbol, we had to pair it with a typeface that fit the overall feel of the symbol. My choice was Trajan Pro 3 for its weight, shape, and pointed serifs. In the end, I imagined that this would be a luxury fashion brand, so I further developed this project to include color choices and packaging concepts.
